The FA Cup Winner – Chelsea and Liverpool Reach The Final

It’s the time of year for the biggest domestic cup final, which takes place on 14th May 2022. The FA Cup final will be played at Wembley, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad touted as favourites over fellow German, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea team. Football betting fans are getting ready to put their money down on the tournament winners, but who will it be? The match has every potential to be a rematch of the February Carabao Cup Final, in which Liverpool stole the crown. Will they be able to repeat this success or will Tuchel’s men manage to take revenge and take home the silverware?

The FA Cup Winner - Chelsea and Liverpool Reach The Final

A Fight for the Final

It hasn’t been an easy road to the final for either squad. Seven-time cup winners, Liverpool, had to face their arch rivals, Man City in the semi-finals in Wembley to earn their spot. Klopp’s men got the better of the blues in a thrilling five goal game that saw them take a 3-2 victory – and keeping alive their dream of the historical quadruple.

The other semi-final was a London derby, which saw Chelsea take on Crystal Palace. Tuchel’s men got their work done pretty easily, with a comfortable 2-0 victory after great goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount.

Given the dominance of the Reds this season – and their impressive form at this moment in time, compared to Chelsea’s turbulent time on and off the pitch, it comes as no surprise that Klopp’s men are strong favourites to achieve a repeat of the Carabao Cup result.

The Winner Takes All

Up until the dramatic semi-finals, it had been Manchester City that had been the favourites to win the title. However, with Liverpool having knocked out the current Premier League leaders from the runnings in the semi-finals, they have naturally taken the place as favourites to win the tournament outright. Jurgen Klopp’s team has been in formidable form since the start of 2022 and is still in the running to pull off the quadruple.

This Liverpool squad has already claimed the League Cup – having defeated Chelsea – which sealed Klopp’s first domestic cup win at Anfield. So, the idolised German manager will now be looking to add a second to the collection. This will be their first FA Cup win in more than 15 years if they can pull it off.

With the possibility of the quadruple still hanging over them, star striker Sadio Mane echoed the whole team’s sentiments, saying that this would be an absolute dream. But of course, it’s hard. They still have lots of games to go – and they will no doubt play every game like a cup final. If there is any team that will fight for it, it’s the current Liverpool team.

Last year’s finalists, Chelsea, are currently the underdogs in this one – and they have certainly made a meal of their journey thus far. They enjoyed a strong 5-1 over non-league team Chesterfield, but several times they have had to come from behind from lower league competition. In the fifth round, Luton took the lead twice, which was a close call for the team. However, their most recent win over fellow Premier League team, Crystal Palace had a lot less drama and will give them a little more confidence going into the final.

Hungry for Domestic Trophy

Tuchel has been the leader of the blues for over 15 months now. During this time, they have won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. They have also made the finals of the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

However, the Blues have suffered defeat in both of their last two matches at Wembley before the Crystal Palace win. They were beaten by Liverpool in the EFL Cup final and before that they lost the FA Cup Final in 2020/21 to Leicester City. However, the failure to lift a domestic title goes back further than that.

The team lost the FA Cup final under Manager Frank Lampard. They lost the EFL Cup final under Maurizio Sarri and their last domestic win came under Antonio Conte in the 2017/18 season, when they lifted the FA Cup. All of the players are now desperate for their team to end the drought now.

Under Tuchel, the team has a real winning mentality. They have the belief that they can – and there is confidence in the squad that they have the ability to win any game or any competition that they set their mind on. They haven’t had the easiest time in the past couple of months, but the team remains focused and ready to play.
So, there is a big call for sports betting fans coming. Favourites or underdogs? Liverpool is hard to beat – but Chelsea has been known to dish out a shock or two.
